JAASP in Region 2
Forty-eight remote rural all-age schools, located in clusters in each of the six education regions in the island, have been beneficiaries of the Jamaica All-Age Schools Project (JAASP). This project was funded by the UK Government Department for International Development, and in collaboration with the Government of Jamaica, specifically tackled the key issues identified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture: Access, Quality, Retention and Equity.

Eight schools in Region 2 — Bybrook Primary; Rock Hall, Frutiful Vale, Bloomfield, Claverty College, Tranquility All-Age; and Comfort Castle and Moore Town Primary & Junior High benefited from the activities of JAASP.

A Fi Wi Ting

Miss Matti you no hear di news
Rock Hall get promotion and big fi true.
Miss Downer mek we know say, we fi do something.
We get excitement and now a fi wi ting.

Mi did think mi was a good baker
And all mi pickney dem think so to.
But when Miss Christine start fi teach
Mi realise say mi never did reach

You should a si we a rub up and mix up and ting.
You might think we a bake fi a King.
When Kevin taste it him nah go have no finger left.
For this ya bakin him neva eat it yet.

When Thursday come and 11:30 strike.
In walk Miss Downer with books for us to read,
She mek wi know say reading is de key.
An if wi tek it in it’s as easy as ABC.

You see when dis ya course ya done,
An me get mi certificate in a mi hand.
At mi gate mi ago mek up a pastry shop,
Put mi bakins ina it and sell it with soda pop.
