Topic 2: Overview of Instructional Technologies
A working definition of educational/instructional technology:
As in the case of instructional design, there are myriad definitions
to describe the field of educational/instructional technology. One of
the classic examples is the following:
Educational/Instructional technology is the development, application and
evaluation of systems, techniques and aids to prove the process of human
learning.
For the purposes of this workshop, however, we prefer the more practical
definition provided by the MOEYC.Educational/Instructional Technology is any device used to enhance the
teaching-learning process.
Some Examples of Instructional Technologies:
Learning Management System (LMS)
On-Line Instruction
Web Resources (Sites, School Nets)
e-mail, Newsgroups, Forums
Videoconferences
Television/Video
Radio/Audio
