Celebrating Project to Programme: Transforming Education
We are approaching the end of seven years of the New Horizons for Primary Schools Project (NHP) for improved Student performance in Reading and Mathematics, and the integration of technology into the curriculum.
To celebrate the project’s achievements and successes, we will be hosting a two-day Conference and Exposition on May 2 and 3, 2005, at the Jamaica Conference Centre, Port Royal Street, Kingston, under the theme “Celebrating Project to Programme: Transforming Education”. This showcase will include exhibitions, presentations, performances, Literacy and Numeracy workshops .
The objectives of the Conference and Exposition are to:
showcase outstanding achievements in NHP schools
highlight innovative instructional practices in literacy and numeracy
promote the sustainability of exemplary instruction
demonstrate the cascading of effective teaching/learning strategies in the delivery of the Revised Primary Curriculum
demonstrate the effective infusion of technology in the instructional and administrative practices in NHP schools.
The Opening Ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, with Registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. Our Keynote Speaker will be the Minister of Education, Youth & Culture, The Honourable Maxine Henry-Wilson. Tuesday’s programme on May 3 includes Registration at 8:00a.m. , Workshops beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ends with the Closing and Awards Ceremony at 3 :00 p.m.
