The Media Services is a support unit of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture. The unit collaborates with other sections of the Ministry to develop, produce, procure and evaluate educational materials for use in schools island wide.

Video series

Since it inception the Unit has developed a series of audio-visual material to be used in the education system. The video series developed includes a Social Studies series consisting of three videos and is based on the new primary curriculum developed by the Ministry.

Another set of videos--The looking in series consists of five videos. These are training videos designed to assist teachers make the best use of the Foundation Textbook Series issued to Grades 7, 8 and 9 by the Ministry.

You are your Child's first teacher focuses on the importance of the role parents play in the learning process of their children.

The importance of reading is highlighted in the video Reading skills for life.

Audio series

The Listen and Learn series consist of stories aimed at stimulating students aged 6-12 years to develop their listening and speaking skills. Side A includes the story followed by comprehension questions. Side B features the same story and activities focusing on vocabulary extension, imagery and character.

The Read Along series is geared at students in Grades four, five and six. The stories are from the Doctor Bird series, an important resource material for the new primary curriculum. The audiotapes present each story in a lively format that encourages pupils to read the books.
