Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons within the Ministry to fill the following position as an acting assignment for the period MARCH 15, 2010 TO  MAY 18, 2010:

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Education Officer – Schools’ Operations and subsequently the Chief Education Officer, the incumbent’s responsibilities will include:

• Managing the operations of the Regional Office.
• Planning, organizing, directing and controlling the School/Community outreach Programme of the Ministry within the Region.
• Coordinating and keeping under review the administration of Public Education Institutions, and facilitating the administration of Private Education Institutions in the Region in accordance with regulations, policies and directives of the Ministry.
• Contributing to the development of management and operating policies of the Ministry by attending monthly management meetings and communicating regularly with the Deputy Chief Education Officer – Schools’ Operations and other Central Office Directors.
• Preparing monthly reports for the Deputy Chief Education Officer – Schools’ Operations on the performance of the Regional Office.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Knowledge of the Regional schools environment: sociological, cultural, demographical, environmental;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Excellent Educational Research and Analytical skills;
• Capacity to motivate;
• Knowledge of Education Regulations (1980);
• Knowledge of Government Human Resource Management & Financial Management Policies.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should possess:

• First Degree in Education or its equivalent
• Post graduate training in Management or Educational Administration would be an asset
• Diploma in Teaching
• A minimum of seven (7) years experience in a managerial position
• A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience
